Welcome, I’m Glad You're Here!

This community is built on the principle of sahwira - friends for life. As women of color, we understand the challenges and struggles we face on a daily basis. Together, in community and sisterhood, we face these challenges - just as our Ancestors have done for years innumerable.

I’m here to help you transform, grow, evolve, be empowered and inspired, and join a circle of friends for life.

MEET THE FOUNDER & facilitator

Hey, I'm Naa Kwarley!

I am a Creative who owns an art gallery and workshop in Baltimore Maryland where I hold Sahwira Sisterhood Circles and share creative processes for healing, (re)connection to the Ancestors, spiritual clarity, connection with other sisters, and empowerment. I have been divinely called to this work.

As a Black woman who has 59 years of experience existing in a world that is unjust to people of color, I know firsthand the importance of the bonds of sisterhood with those who walk this same path. Founding the Sahwira Sisterhood is my response. It is time we removed the mask and begin existing as we are! No more mask wearing to make others comfortable in our presence. It is not our burden to make others comfortable because of our existence.

Fun Facts About Me

Passionately Creative!

I am a published author.

I paint, make quilts and handbags, create art journals, and more.

I've had my own gallery since circa 2009 - always in Baltimore Maryland where I was born and raised.

Dot mandala making is my way of (active) meditation.

If it is creative, I'm going to try my hand at it! Creativity is soul healing for me. It doesn't matter to me whether I'm good at it - I'm creating for ME. It is my tool of choice for introspection and self-healing. I am a healer, but I can't heal anyone. You have all you need to heal within yourself. All I can do is offer you tools to help you excavate the medicine you need.

***Disclaimer: I am not a therapist nor do I offer therapy in any form.***

Let’s create something extraordinary!

You Belong Here

I launched this journey with a passion to support and be supported by women. Women who have similar struggles that I experience. Women of color...

Blessed to have 4 women in my life who truly are my sahwiras, it is time to expand not only my circle of sahwiras, but to bring the goodness of this concept to others who too would benefit from a close-knit circle of sisters. That is my intention with Sahwira Sisterhood. Let us join together and demontrate these characteristics, as outlined by Dr. Tererai Trent:

Sacred Sisterhood: A pact to rely on one another and take risks by being open to love.

Be a giver of your knowledge, wisdom, love, and empathy while receiving the same with grace and gratitude.

Be authentic in both giving and receiving.
